WereVerse Universe Baby!
Your definition for “pitch” doesn’t seem to fit the common aeronautical use of the term.
E.g., “the pitch of the nose of the aircraft is crucial to airspeed control …”
Thanks for catching the mistake Keith. I went ahead and fixed it. There is more info about this subject at:
http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ejes_del_avi%C3%B3n
I am not an expert on aeronautics but looked at the picture in English and looked at the picture in Spanish and cabeceo appears to be pitch. I have never used the term in English much less Spanish before and its kind of interesting.
What word would you use for “approach” as in making a “final approach”?
hacer una aproximación final
This is great. I have worked in civil aviation. You may want to add to this list that the Spanish word, also used in Cuba for the heading/bearing is “rumblo”.
Regards Catherine in Canada
I will get right on it and if you have any other suggestions then please let me know!
Dear Catherine,
I am not finding any confirmation of the word rumblo. However, your comment and is online and therefore part of the article!
It should be “rumbo”. But pretty close!
Thanks for your help Bill.
What about ‘galley’? That’s missing on the list.
The direct translation is “galera” but I wonder if there is a contextualized Spanish word that is more appropriate? Any help from the visitors out there?
What about “dive” and “climb”?
I am retired and focusing on novels these days! Good luck!
