I have belts in Judo(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judo), Taekwondo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taekwondo) and have studied Wing Chung (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wing_Chung). If you asked me which of those three is the most effective I would say if you have just a year then Judo. If you have about two years then Wing Chung. I wasn’t too impressed with Taekwondo and the gymanstic side of the art makes it impracticable for someone older such as myself.
I am out of shape and out of practice and would say at this point my knowledge of martial arts is more theoretical and my ability to do martial arts is limited. The following is my contribution to a theoretical understanding of martial arts:

I developed an interest in Dungeons and Dragons miniatures (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dungeons_and_dragons_miniatures) while in Taipei but there is basically nothing like this going on in Korea so this hobby has been temporarily shelved as well. Hey Hugh, I order D&D mini’s through a book store in Itaewon Seoul. check out there website and you can get the delivered for free as log as you order two or more items. They have none in the store itself but it only takes about 7-10 days for them to get here from the States.

Thanks for the info. I figured as much. I lived in Taipei for 8 years, and will eventually do a series of posts comparing Taiwan and Korea, and there were two game stores. The nice thing about one of them is that he gave large discounts if you bought a case, 20% off. Neutral Ground game store chain in Manilla, that is in many of the malls, gives you a discount if you buy six(?) boxes. Plus lots of freebies. The Taipei store never did a convention but got the convention retailer kits that included repainted minis, special maps and all kinds of stuff.

Plus I would meet other people into the game and do trades.
What’s Books just isnt the same! Its just weird how Seoul is like five times bigger than Taipei and probably 20 times richer than Manila but doesn’t have a lot of basic stuff like a real game store. Korea is a pub culture at the expense of other activities.

Unfortunately Phil my many collections are gathering dust in storage in the US while I am living and working in Thailand. Somewhere down the road I have to resolve this issue but for know I feel ok about the collectible quietly appreciating in value.
